Renee Brewell and husband Richard recently moved in to their new family home in the popular beachside estate of Shorehaven, Alkimos and couldn’t be happier with the decision.
Having moved from a big corner block in Carramar, the couple, with children Liam (13) and Ashton (9), wanted to take some lessons learned from their old house into this new home design.
“We really thought about how we wanted to live in this new home compared to our old place” said Renee. “We used to have a formal lounge and dining that we never used, plus a huge garden that required a lot of upkeep. So in this home we opted for one big open plan living area and a separate home theatre for chilling out together. And of course no grass!”
Richard and the boys are big gamers, so their priority was to ensure the home theatre was fully kitted out with a big 65 inch TV to complement their PS4 and Xbox. “I used to love playing video games as a kid” said Richard “Now I can spend time with the boys on the weekend playing games rather than having to maintain the garden, it’s great!”
Having previously worked in the building industry for over 10 years Renee, who is now a Community Support Officer, knew the importance of planning ahead.
“For me there were a few key decisions we had to get right. Location was obviously very important. We love the coastal lifestyle here in Alkimos and spend a lot of time down at the beach front. We also knew we had to choose the right builder. Someone with a good reputation and who wasn’t too big” said Renee.
“We viewed a couple of display homes from Vision One Homes. We loved the kitchen in the Calibri and really liked the elevation of the Ariba. So we just worked with the sales consultant to take the elements we liked in each home, plus our own ideas and created what we live in now. We got those key decisions right I think!” said Renee.
The home has a relaxed coastal feel, and the open plan living flowing out to the alfresco area makes for easy entertaining.
“We love the area and the lifestyle it has given us. We really enjoy having family over for a BBQ or just a glass of wine and some snacks. We go for walks together to the park or down to the beach, it is just a lovely place to live” concluded Renee.
